Greek Style Chicken Souvlaki

Greek Style Chicken Souvlaki

This is so tasty!! I love this. It is something so simple. I can just throw the chicken into a marinade then the next day grill it up and that’s basically all there is to it! Couldn’t be much more simple, or incredibly delicious!!

Ingredients:

Chicken and Marinade:
300g skinless chicken breast, cut into strips.
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp oregano
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar
1 Tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper
2 Tbsp greek yoghurt (optional)

Souvlaki:
A little olive oil
1/2 courgette sliced into thin strips
4 warm flatbreads (or wraps or pita pockets)
Tatziki
1/2 red onion, fine sliced
lettuce and tomato (optional)

Method:

1. Place all ingredients for marinade into a bowl or bag and mix together.
2. Add the chicken and make sure it is well cover then leave in fridge overnight.
3. Grill meat (This is sometimes easier to do by threading the meat onto skewers). Grill until cooked and golden.
4. Heat a frypan and lightly brown the courgette.
5. Stack flatbread with Tatziki, chicken, courgette and onion. (Lettuce and tomato too if you are having them).
6. Serve immediately and enjoy!

This meal looks so good! The marinade especially has me wanting to try it. I wonder if it would work to sauté the chicken in a skillet instead of grilling it. Thank you so much for bringing it to Fiesta Friday!

      Thanks Jenny!
Yup that totally works! I often do that too, just make sure the pan is nice and hot when you put it in and then it will colour up really nice!!
Let me know how you go with it!
      Your most welcome 🙂 xx

This is my kind of a Greek recipe – the marinade sounds real good as I love balsamic vinegar. Don’t you just love trying to cut open the flatbread/pita bread. Any tricks to it? I know I have a recipe somewhere but why look since your recipe is at my fingertips 🙂

Thanks!! Yea the balsamic gives such a nice Zing to the marinade.
Haha yea pita pockets are fun sometimes! I have to be honest for this I just used some from the supermarket, and it was not the best idea. Actually now your comment totally has me inspired to go and perfect making them!! 🙂
